Boards & Commissions
The Planning & Zoning Commission was created by
ordinance in 1989.
Appointments are made by the Mayor with three-fourths majority approval of
Council. Members serve staggered three-year terms beginning on December 31.
The Chair and Vice-Chair are elected by the Commission and the City
Secretary acts as secretary.
Meetings are scheduled for 6:30pm the third Tuesday each month.
All meetings of the Commission comply with the Open Meetings Act. Meeting
notices are posted at City Hall at least 72-hours prior to meetings.

to act in a quasi-judicial capacity.
Nominations are made by the Mayor with confirmation of Council. Members
serve two-year terms. The Chairperson and Associate Chairperson are elected
by the Board for a one-year term. Four members of the Board are required
for the transaction of business.
Meetings are scheduled for 6:30pm the second Tuesday each month.
All meetings of the Board comply with the Open Meetings Act. Meeting
notices are posted at City Hall at least 72-hours prior to meetings.

The Electrical Board was created by ordinance in 1989.
Appointments are made by the Mayor with approval of Council at any regular
Council meeting date between the Mayors election and June 30 of the same
year. Members serve two-year terms. The Chairman is elected by the Board
and the Secretary is appointed by the Chairman.
Meetings are held quarterly on the first Monday night of January, April,
July and October. All meetings of the Electrical Board comply
with the Open Meetings Act. Meeting notices are posted at City Hall at
least 72-hours prior to meetings.

The Library Board was created by ordinance in 1989 and
amended in 1997.
Appointments are made by City Council with recommendations from the Library
Board. Members serve 42-month terms and may not succeed themselves.
Officers are chosen by majority vote of the Board and serve one-year terms.
Meetings are held once each month. Effective May 14, 2001, meetings are
scheduled for 5:30pm the second Thursday each month. All meetings
of the Board comply with the Open Meetings Act. Meeting notices are posted
at City Hall at least 72-hours prior to meetings.
