Peter Fletcher, Classical guitarist
Classical guitarist, Peter Fletchered, performed at the Nesbitt Memorial Library on March 10, 2015 for 45 listeners. This was his sixith time playing at the library. His last visited was in March of 2011.
Buck Cole: Texas General Land Office Archives and Records
Buck Cole from the Texas General Land Office Archives and Records spoke at the library on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015. Mr. Cole taught computer users how to use the GLO website for genealogy research. More information about the Texas General Land Office Archives and Records can be viewed here at their website.
Evelyn Joann Russell: Afloat on a Full Sea: the Clarke Family of Galveston Island 
On Feb. 12, 2015 the library hosted Evelyn Joann Russell. Joann is a fifth generation islander who used old newspapers, courhouse documents and goverment records to develop these accounts of her historic ancestors. It is an accurate history of the Clarke family and their descendants. The program focused how to write and publish your own family history!  
Roger Wade-The Other Side of the Shutter: Columbus Photographers  
  On January 29, Roger Wade spoke at the Nesbitt Memorial Library about early photographers featured at the Live Oak Art Center exhibiton featuring historial photographs of Columbus. Pictures featured are from the library's archives.
e-Reader Workshop 
  Director, Susan Chandler, taught three individuals how to use their e-Reader on January 29, 2015.  
Open House 
  The Nesbitt Memorial Library opened its doors to host the first ever "Open House" at the library. Twenty-one people came and enjoyed wassail and a cookie with Director, Susan Chandler. It was a very nice treat during this winter season!  
Gary E. McKee: Draft Resistance in Central Texas during the 1860s 
  Gary E. McKee visted the Nesbitt Memorial Library on Thursday, December, 11, 2014. He presented his monograph, Draft Resistance in Central Texas during the 1860s, to 18 thrilled listeners. McKee is a local historian from Fayette County.  
Paul N. Spellman: Old 300 Gone to Texas 
  Mr. Spellman presented his new book, Old 300 Gone to Texas, at the Nesbitt Memorial Library on Thursday, November 13, 2014. The book describes the journey of families, single men, widows and widowers of the "Old 300". They came to Texas from different states and countries to join Stephen F Austin in settling along and between the Colorado and Brazos rivers.  
LODF 2014 Cemetery Tour
  The 12 Annual Live Oaks and Dead Folks Cemetery Tour was held on November 7 & 8, 2014. The tour consist of eleven haints from the Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery. Linked below are pictures from the event.

Stephen Harrigan: Remember Ben Clayton
  Author Stephen Harrigan kicked started Gulf Coast Reads with his visit to Nesbitt Memorial Library on September 30th. He spoke about this award winning book Remember Ben Clayton. A book discussion about this book will be held in the Bill Stein Texas Room on Oct. 17 at 10:30 am. Members of the community are encouraged to attend! 
Linda Owen: Emergency Care 
  Author Linda Owen signed copies of her book, Emergency Care on September 16, 2014.  
Roger Wade: German POW Camps in Colorado County 
  Roger Wade gave a presentation on September 11, 2014 about the prisoner-of-war camps which were located in Colorado County during World War II and the impact they had on Colorado County.
 
2014 Summer Reading Program 
 
Fizz, Boom, Read! was the 2014 Summer Reading Program theme. Special thanks to this year's readers: Nancy Koehl, Glenda Lambert, Gwendolyn Neath, Bonnie Meyer, Rebecca Harris and Rebecca Kamenski. Out of the176 children that signed up 121 were awarded a certificate for reading at least 10 books or 250 pages! Thirty-six children completed the goal of reading 80 books or 2,000 pages! All together over 3,300 books and 58,000 pages were read this summer! After Julian Franklin's spectacular Go Wild program 9 gift cards were given away in a drawing. Four children won $25 gifts and five won $10. Also, 36 children won tickets to a Houston Astros game. Three teens parcipated in the Spark a Reaction! teen program. One lucky teen won a gift card of $25. Seven adults parcipated in the Literary Elements program and one winner was also chosen for a $25 gift card.

Ronald McDonald 
  The Nesbitt Memorial Library welcomed Ronald McDonald as a speical guest for this year's Summer Reading Program. He preformed magic tricks with squeaky hamburgersand magical bag!

Nitsana and her magic puppets! 
  The Nesbitt Memorial Library welcomed Nitsana the puppeteer back for a special Storytime on July 8, 2014. She amazed children of all ages with her bright and colorful magic puppets!

Amanda Danning La Folly, La Cobbler and La Rogue & Heads and Tales of the Revolution  
  Mr. and Mrs. James E. Brasher donated two programs to the Nesbitt Memorial Library. La Folly, La Cobbler and La Rogue to an audience of all ages. Heads and Tales of the Texas Revolution taught teens how to determine the cause of death through injuries by working together in groups.  
Ranger Cindy 
  Ranger Cindy visited the library during the first week of the Summer Reading Program. Ninety kids were amazed to see a live corn snake, baby alligator, lizard and a turtle. Children also enjoyed digging up objects in a sand pit. More photos can be viewed here
Tracking the Texas Rangers
  Bruce Glasrud, Harold Weiss, Donaly Brice and Paul Spellman came to the Nesbitt Memorial Library to talk about the Texas Rangers in Texas history. Each spoke brief on their work and collectively and knowledgably answered questions.
Texas Archeological Society (TAS)
Sue Gross from the Texas Archeological Society (TAS) spoke about the Archelogical Field School to be held at the local dig site on June 14 through the 21 of 2014. This site is along the Colorado River and contains artifacts that date to 6,000 B.C. This site is located south of Columbus on the Tait Ranch.
