Introduction and Table of Contents

The 1930 census of Colorado County is divided into sixteen sections, or "enumeration districts." Those districts and the geographic areas they covered were:

• Enumeration District 1: City of Columbus
• Enumeration District 2: East Part of Justice Precinct No. 1, excluding the City of Columbus
• Enumeration District 3: West Part of Justice Precinct No. 1, excluding Columbus but including Glidden
• Enumeration District 4: Southeast Part of Justice Precinct No. 2
• Enumeration District 5: Southeast Part of Justice Precinct No. 2, including Rock Island
• Enumeration District 6: Justice Precinct No. 3
• Enumeration District 7: City of Weimar
• Enumeration District 8: Part of Justice Precinct No. 4 excluding the City of Weimar
• Enumeration District 9: Part of Justice Precinct No. 4, excluding the City of Weimar
• Enumeration District 10: Part of Justice Precinct No. 5
• Enumeration District 11: Part of Justice Precinct No. 5
• Enumeration District 12: Justice Precinct No. 6
• Enumeration District 13: Justice Precinct No. 7
• Enumeration District 14: City of Eagle Lake
• Enumeration District 15: Part of Justice Precinct No. 8, excluding the City of Eagle Lake

We have chosen to present our index in two ways: (1) in the same order as the original census, and divided into the same enumeration districts, and (2) in alphabetical order, by surname. Our list can be electronically searched (by using "Ctrl F"), but you should be aware of the fact that either we or the census taker might have spelled any person's name incorrectly. In cases where we knew the latter was true, we added the correct spelling in square brackets. We also included enough information, in parenthesis to the right of each name, to identify each person with a reasonable degree of certainty. Of course, much more information about every person was included on the census. To the right of the parenthetical insertion, we have placed the number of the enumeration district, the page number, and the line number on which the entry for the person appears.

Note: The racial identity of two persons in ED 3 was given as "M." They were not counted as white, black, or Hispanic.
