Gunfights and Sites in Texas Ranger History | ||
Mike Cox spoke at the library on December 10, 2015 about his book Gunsfights and Sites in Texas Ranger History. This book is part of the Landmarks Series by the History Press. The contains never before published photos including the "Magna Carta" of the Texas Rangers and a list of 600 historical sites! He spoke to twenty-one attendees. A book signing was held after the program. | ||
2015 Live Oaks and Dead Folks Cemetery Tour | ||
This year marked the 13th annual Live Oaks and Dead Folks Cemetery
Tour. It was located at the Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery. The actors were Toni Burns (as Fannie Darden
1829-1890), Gary Chandler (as James Toliver 1844-1911),
Karen Cuffle (as Ella Guynn 1847-1913), Steven
Cuffle (as John Guynn 1843-1894), Bob Gillespie
(As Jacob Hahn 1823-1904), Amber Hollywood (As Kate
Oakes 1846-1899), Jim Kearney (as Bob Stafford
1834-1890) Bille Stolle (as Benjamin Baker 1837-1907),
Lucas Thompson (as Robert Foard 1831-1898) and
Carman Weber (as Elmina Haskell 1836-1919). The guides were
Ester Chandler, Susan Chandler, Amanda Briscoe, Christina Kearbey,
Glenda Lambert, Lorraine Novosad, Ford Stein, Kathleen Townzen, Shalor
Townzen, Marilyn Wade, Ann Wegenhoft and Kenneth Wegenhoft.

2015 Pumpkin Parade | ||
The library gave out candy and toys to 166 children from St. Anthony's Catholic School, Columbus Elementry and A Brighter Day Child Care Center. | ||
2015 SRP | ||
Every Hero Has a Story was the theme for this year's SRP. Our volunteer readers included Steven and Karen Cuffle, Natlie Barten, Nancy Koehl, Rebecka LaCourse, Glenda Lambert, Bonnie Meyer, and Gwendolyn Neath. 6,001 books and 65,113 pages were read this summer. One hundred and twenty-five children played the game and one hundred and nine were rewarded certificates. Forty-six children finished the game and thirty-four children went on to become the "Reading Hero" by reading an extra 100 books/2,500 pages! Peter Fletcher memorized a group of forty-five music enthusias. Mr. Fletcher has played at the Nesbitt Memorial Library for quite some time and it is always to treat to have him play for our community! | ||

Buck Cole visted the library to speak about the Genealogy services offered at the General Land Office and online. | ||
Roger Wade: The other side of the shutter | ||
Roger Wade spoke at the Nesbitt Memorial Library about the life stories of past Columbus native photographers. The library's archives houses numerous works of these fantastic artists. | ||
e-Reader Workshop | ||
The library opened its doors for an e-Read workshop. Patrons were taught how to use Overdrive to download and read e-Books. |
