The City Council of the City of Columbus, Texas met in special session on Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at 12:05 P.M., in the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall located at 605 Spring Street, Columbus, Texas, with the following present:

Mayor - Paula Frnka
Mayor Pro-Tem - Earl Joe Frnka, Jr.
Councilwoman - Ester Chandler
Councilman - Donald T. Churchill
Councilman - Ronnie Rogers
Councilman - DeWayne Kotrla

City Manager - David Stall
City Secretary - Jill Ready

1. Call to Order:

Mayor Frnka called the meeting to order at 12:05 P.M., May 9, 2001.

2. Canvass the May 5, 2001 City General Election and Declare the Results to Be Official:

City Council canvassed the returns of the May 5, 2001 City General Election. There were 467 voters and the candidates received the following number of votes:

For Mayor: Paula K. Frnka 380

For Council Place No. 1 Earl Joe Frnka, Jr. 184

Ester Chandler 276

For Council Place No. 2 Robert A. Brown 32

Leroy J. Sebesta 296

Bill Burke 126

Councilman Frnka moved to declare the results of the May 5, 2001 City General Election to be official. Councilman Kotrla seconded the motion. The vote was as follows:

AYES: Councilman Frnka, Churchill, Rogers, Kotrla, and Councilwoman Chandler

The motion passed. Certificates of Election were presented to the newly elected officers.

Councilman Churchill praised the city manager and told him to keep up the good work.

Councilman Frnka reminded everyone of the upcoming Springtime Festival.

There were no announcements.

There being no further business Mayor Frnka declared the council meeting adjourned at 12:11 P.M.
