City of Columbus Recycling Program


Location:
1427 B Montezuma Street, behind the soccer fields at the Community Park.

Hours:
Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
Fridays from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.

Items Collected:
Aluminum, tin, number one and number two plastic, bagged leaves and grass clippings. Bagged leaves and grass clippings can be dropped off Monday thru Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Computer Printout Paper--consist of one-part, continuous form paper printed on an impact printer, (dot matrix, not laser or ink jet). Typically solid white paper but may include green, blue, or orange bars. Does not include carbonless, carbon interleaf, recycled papers, or pre-printed forms. Must be free of binders, Post-It-notes, tapes, tabs, and any other papers. Paper clips and staples are OK.

White Ledger--consist of typical single sheet, white bonded office letterhead and copy paper. May contain laser printing and colored printing. This grade should be free of coated, treaded, groundwood (recycled), carbonless, carbon interleaf, padded or heavily printed stock. Computer paper may be included in this grade. Must be free of binders, Post-It-notes, tapes, tabs, all envelopes and colored papers. Paper clips and staples are OK.

Sorted Office Paper--consist of paper typically generated in offices. Contains primarily white and colored groundwood free paper, free of unbleachable fibers, (not brown boxes & wrappers & dark colored file folders). Includes carbonless paper, fax paper, envelopes without cellophane windows, brochures, junk mail, and manila file folders. May include a small percentage of groundwood computer paper, newspaper, and phone books. Must be free of binders, tapes, tabs, and plastic sheets. Paper clips and staples are OK.

Newspapers--must be dry and never exposed to water. Can include advertising inserts. No plastic or kraft (grocery) bags, string, or tape.

Magazines, telephone books, and paperback books are allowed. No wax-coated paper, plastic coated books, blue print paper, cloth covered books, spiral bound books, pentiflex folders, hardbound books, window envelopes, vinyl-covered books, or carbon paper.

Corrugated Containers--empty kraft cardboard boxes, including the staples, tape, and labels that may be on them. Does not include waxed boxes. Wood supports must be removed.

Used Oil and Oil Filters--The City accepts any type of oil as long as it does not contain any chemicals or flammables such as gasoline, diesel, anti-freeze, etc.

Metal Items:
The City accepts scrap metal such as copper, brass, stainless steel, heavy iron, tin and appliances such as microwaves, refrigerators, freezers, hot water heaters, and air conditioners. Any item that contains freon must be free of any freon. A current city billing stub and a form of identification must be presented.
